The 360 Dashboard answers nagging questions in an instant
“With Spector 360, you get what you are paying for with your employees. You can quantify the value of your employees.”
Steve Mitchell, Information Technology Manager, GMI Insurance
Reducing the frivolous web-surfing of just one employee from an hour to a few minutes a day can save a company more than 200 hours a year in lost productivity. Multiply that by 10 employees, and a small company gains back 2000 hours in one year, or more than $40,000 in lost productivity. A 50-person company gains back $200,000 in lost productivity.
In 2006, monitoring of network computers rose to an unprecedented level of control with the introduction of Spector 360. Designed for business, government, education and other enterprise networks, Spector 360 combines powerful SpectorSoft recording tools with a scalable relational database to deliver centralized management, easy-to-read graphical charts, and automated reporting. From the Dashboard, an administrator can analyze data from multiple employees and departments at a glance. With convenient monitoring across the network, investigation is simplified. Customers will almost instantly realize increases in productivity—and decreases in liability—by answering previously impossible or hard-to-determine questions, such as:

“The spooktastic Spector Pro can track [kids'] activity and automatically email you reports... By the way, don't bother with software that blocks illicit sites. Any half-competent teenager can easily subvert it.”
Wired Magazine, July 2006

CIOS: Monitoring Employees
Thwarts Internet Abuse
By Kate Evans-Correia SearchCIO.com, February 1, 2007
Meet: Steven Haight, Regional Sales Manager
Background: Steven has been with SpectorSoft since 1999, providing the SpectorSoft Partner community with monitoring solutions, primarily in the East Coast states. His customers run the gamut, requiring from one to thousands of installation licenses. Steven came to Vero Beach, FL, via New York and Colorado, has a 10-year-old son, and alternates modes of transportation between Jeep and motorcycle. You might have met him at a trade show or user group presentation.
History: “When I started with SpectorSoft, there were only five of us. We had one product, and we shipped it on floppy disks. Now we're approaching 70 employees, and SpectorSoft has a complete suite of home and corporate network products. The industry itself has grown up; I used to receive phone calls from people who had never heard of anything like our software. Now, everyone is aware of monitoring.”
Believes in Listening: “In Sales, we hear the needs and suggestions of customers and pass them on to Development. Feedback from our customers has led directly to the design and development of our network products, and will shape future products. Customers get to see the evolution: I still deal with customers from the days when Bill Clinton was President and three Beatles were alive.”
In each issue we'd like you to introduce you to a key member of our team and one of your many partners at SpectorSoft

SpectorSoft Shows at 2007 International CES Show, Las Vegas
In January, SpectorSoft exhibited at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in the Sands Convention Center, showcasing both its consumer and corporate products. CES is the world’s largest annual tradeshow for consumer technology and America’s largest annual tradeshow of any kind.
Traffic at the SpectorSoft booth was brisk, with more than 140,000 consumers, IT professionals, corporate and business users, buyers, resellers, retailers and members of the press at this year’s show. After five days of set-up, booth duty, tear down and traversing 1.7 million square feet of exhibit space, the SpectorSoft booth staff was exhausted, but thrilled with customer response.
Back-to-back product demos of Spector Pro and Spector 360 and collaboration with resellers helped to close several large transactions during the show. It was a pleasure getting reacquainted with existing Partners, as well as meeting and speaking with resellers new to SpectorSoft products. Thanks to all of you for your interest, enthusiasm and the business you closed (and continue to close!) as a result of CES.
Innovative Spector 360 Highlighted at FOSE 2007 Show, Washington DC
SpectorSoft, the worldwide leader in Internet monitoring and surveillance, showcased the Spector 360 corporate and government software solution at FOSE 2007, March 20-22 at the Washington DC Convention Center. FOSE, the only government-centric event where hundreds of cutting-edge technology products, services and solutions are presented to the government community, was a very successful venue for SpectorSoft.
The recently introduced Spector 360 (see above) generated a great deal of interest among the federal and state attendees as a government and corporate monitoring solution. SpectorSoft showed, via live demos, how the ability to integrate data from multiple employees and departments, empowers management to increase productivity and minimize liability.
“Other products simply show that an employee visited a web site while Spector 360 shows EXACTLY what they did while they were on the web site,” says SpectorSoft President Doug Fowler. “This can make a huge difference if there is a question of inappropriate behavior.”
As a result of FOSE, SpectorSoft has signed on a number of new resellers who saw 360 in action. If you are a government or corporate reseller interested in Spector 360 and other SpectorSoft monitoring products, call or email SpectorSoft today. Your customers will be glad you did!

“The software pays for itself - and quickly ... With Spector CNE, you spend your money and you get your money back right away."
Alex Hansen
BoldFont Communications, Inc.
Minneapolis, Minnesota
Keystroke recorders, screen capture programs - lesser products have these features - but smart companies providing IT solutions, like BoldFont Communications, Inc., of Minneapolis, are discovering the true value and return on investment of SpectorSoft’s full set of tools for in-depth monitoring. According to manager Alex Hansen, “In one instance, productivity increased about $60,000 a year right away. And in another, the organization likely saved much more than that in future revenue because it was able to keep a key client list from being taken…The software pays for itself -- and quickly…When owners find out how much data can be gathered with Spector CNE, it’s not hard to sell.”

Monitoring is a red hot topic, which makes it hot for sales and means that SpectorSoft turns up frequently in the news.
CBS News, “Ask the Experts,” June 15, 2006. “Can you get into your child's account on MySpace or related sites? If so, can you see their history? How can you see if they deleted history?” To get the most information, the experts suggest monitoring software and cite SpectorSoft as one of the leading providers.
Family Circle, “Smooth Surfing,” by Dan Tynan, November 29, 2006. The respected family magazine recommends SpectorSoft’s eBlaster for parental real-time monitoring of their kids’ web experiences.
SmartMoney.com, “Office Spies,” by Aleksandra Todorova, October 2006. “Internet monitoring doesn't end with going through email and a list of visited web sites. Now, thanks to software programs like SpectorSoft, employers can record practically everything employees do on their computers and watch it as if on videotape,” according to Jay Mellon, vice president at AtNetPlus, a Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-based IT security consultancy.

CNN, "Live From" with Kyra Phillips, interviewing Vicki Courtney, author of the TeenVirtue series. Vicki Courtney used SpectorSoft’s eBlaster program because “I wanted to know, who are [my kids] talking to, who are their friends, who is contacting them… The beauty of this program is that you can load it remotely…you plug in your email address and in almost real-time, you start receiving conversations or logs of conversations that they are having. It's maybe one or two minutes delay.”
FloridaTrend, “Trendsetters"- February 2007: Deterring Computer Abuse,” February 2007. “SpectorSoft software can allow a company or parent to take snapshots at designated intervals of what a computer-user is viewing and can record chat, e-mail and MySpace activity. Its presence serves as a deterrent to abuse.”

Monitoring is not “spying.” Monitoring means you have reviewed rules of acceptable use with your employees (or family) and are using software to oversee compliance with those rules.

You can load a comprehensive list of keywords that set off alerts. For real-time notification of Internet misuse, you can define keywords (such as “shopping,” “sex,” or “resume”) that set off an alert. Whenever the SpectorSoft product encounters one of the keywords - on a web site, in an email, in keystrokes being typed in a document - the responsible manager receives an email alert. It's possible to maintain different keyword lists for different types of users.

You can deploy the Spector 360/CNE Client to a group of computers. For network installations, instead of deploying the Spector 360 or CNE Client to computers one at a time, take care of a whole group at once, or deploy different settings to different groups. The group may be as small as two machines or as large as an entire domain. Simply enable “Group Management,” then install the client to the domain group, or the group you define.
